1. Take 4-5 fresh medium-sized apples and grate the flesh using a coarse grater.
2. Add one to one and a half teaspoons of cinnamon to the grated apples and mix well.
3. Add the juice of half a lemon along with some lemon zest.
4. If the apples are not very juicy, add 80-100 ml of apple or orange juice. Mix thoroughly.
5. In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup of flour (1 cup = 200 ml).
6. Add 1 cup of semolina and 0.5 cups of powdered sugar to the flour, and mix thoroughly.
7. Pour in 100 ml of vegetable oil and mix until the mixture is well incorporated.
8. Prepare a baking pan by greasing it with vegetable oil or lining it with baking parchment.
9. Begin by spreading a few tablespoons of the "dry" mixture on the bottom of the pan. Then, add a few spoonfuls of the grated apple mixture on top. Continue layering the "dry" mixture and grated apples alternately, finishing with a layer of the "dry" mixture.
10. Lightly brush the top of the cake with a small amount of vegetable oil.
11. Sprinkle almond flakes on top.
12. Bake the cake for about 45 minutes at 170°C (338°F).
13. Allow the cake to cool completely after baking.
